Oscar Urquiola 

TriLatino's First Podium Finish 2009 

Oscar earned TriLatino its first podium finish for 2009!  Impressive.  He has come a long way in multi-sports.  About six year ago, looking to lose some weight and lead a healthier lifestyle, Oscar discovered triathlon.  He picked up a bike, started running and swimming and got hooked on the sport ever since.  Despite the torrential downpour during the 2009 Mighty Montauk Sprint Triathlon, he raced hard finishing third place in his age group.  Oscar is wonderful teammate and great inspiration.  We are proud to have him as a TriLatino!

A year ago, I curiously attended the launch of a new triathlon club.  For an hour, I listened to Edel, president of TriLatino; explain how Muevete, TriLatino’s tag line printed on the back of our gear, is meant to express more than its literal translation - 'move it'.  To a TriLatino member it means ‘I'm here for you, I support you, we are family'.  I joined the club that night and a year later, I understand what Edel meant.  Now, I can’t imagine racing without my fellow TriLatinos and the guidance of my coaches.  Thanks to their support I achieved the goals I set for myself this year.  Going forward, TriLatino will always be part of my Triathlon life, because what is life without family right?  Muevete!!!
