RAGNAR RELAY NEW YORK May 14 and 15, 2010 www.ragnarrelay.com/newyork/index.php
TriLatino has put together two teams to compete in this exciting race. Whether you are an advanced runner or you have just completed a 10K this opportunity is for you! Read below for more details. We guarantee you that this will be a very fun experience with your teammates!
Register with us today. Spots are limited!
PICTURE THIS - Colony of the Arts. The City that Never Sleeps. You and 11 of your teammates running day and night. Starting in the legendary town of Woodstock, NY, your team of 12 maniacs will rock out on a 178 mile adventure-fest sure to thrill you. The party in your van will only get better as you leap frog your way past the breathtaking views of the Catskill Mountains over the Mid-Hudson Bridge and through many charming country towns. The race (and your stamina) will wrap up in the bright lights of New York City.
An Easy 178 Miles (really?) Running three legs during a 24-hour relay race is much easier than you think. Each team member runs three legs, ranging between 3 and 8 miles. This relay race is physically demanding, but legs vary in difficulty, and runners can choose their legs. This unique relay format makes the Ragnar Relay an accessible race for beginners yet challenging enough for the most competitive.
Load 'Em up and move 'Em out How do you get from one exchange to the next? Each team is allowed two support vehicles. The first vehicle will drop off the first runner, drive ahead a few miles, cheer the runner on, and provide them with water, snacks, and plenty of love. That vehicle will then drive ahead to the first exchange point to drop off the second runner and pick up the first runner when that leg is complete. They will repeat this pattern for six legs until they hand off to their second vehicle. This leapfrogging pattern will continue all the way to the finish line.
The Goods In addition to flawless logistics and a beautiful course, the will be live music along the course, tech tee's for all participants, medals for all course finishers, awards for all division winners, best decorated vehicle award, award for the best team name, and a rocking finish line party.
The Marathon Project (charity to which we are donating to $30 per runner) The Marathon Project kids and mentors are thrilled to be named Official Charity of the 2010 Ragnar Relay New York. We see it as an opportunity to show the nationally-acclaimed Ragnar Relay Series runners, race officials, and supporters what the Marathon Project is capable of—and that we are a cause worthy of your support.
The Marathon Project is an after-school training program that pairs adult mentors with at-risk youth to reduce risk factors such as childhood obesity, school drop-out and substance abuse. The Marathon Project provides opportunities for students to set and achieve goals, explore avenues for character development, improve health, and build positive relationships through mentoring. In the past, the Marathon Project kids have trained for one of the great American races, the Philadelphia Marathon. In 2010, however, severe funding cuts have made that race not only an incredible fitness challenge but also a financial one. Because of this, the tenacious training required of the Marathon Project kids and mentors is only half the battle; fundraising is the only way the kids, many of whom have not left their neighborhood, will reach their ultimate goal of finishing a Marathon—even if they do train hard enough.
TriLatino has already registered with Ragnar so please contact us if you would like to be part of one of our teams. The registration fee for this event is $215.00 an it includes the following: Race registration $115 + donation $30 + transportation $70 (includes renting van + gas).
Please take into consideration that we drive up to Woodstock early on Friday morning (6am) so you will need to request a day of from work that day. We estimate to complete this race in about 24-28 hours. Last year our team met the challenge in 27 hours and 32 minutes! Sign up today. It will be tons of fun!!!
