About Christopher Johnson

Christopher earned a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction from the University of Delaware.  While there he completed a senior thesis in the physical therapy department under the direction of Dr. Lynn Snyder-Mackler.  Christopher, a member of the varsity men's tennis team, was captain in 2000 and a scholar-athlete.  He remained at the University of Delaware and earned a master's degree in physical therapy while completing an orthopedic/sports graduate fellowship at First State Orthopedics under Dr. Michael J. Axe.

In addition to his role as managing therapist at NY Ortho PT, Chris works as a part time researcher at the Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma (NISMAT) of Lenox Hill Hospital.  He is an adjunct instructor in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program at New York University and is certified in fine wire electromyography (EMG).  Christopher's major focus is rehabilitating patients following complex surgical procedures.  His expertise lies in balancing tissues of the body and resolving movement impairments to promote optimal pain free function.

Christopher is also an avid triathlete and competes at the amateur elite level.  He has completed triathlons at all distances and is attempting to qualify for the Hawaii Ironman World Championship by racing the Providence Half Ironman as well as Ironman Canada this summer.  Recently, he became certified as a thriathlon coach, which compliments his work as a physical therapist, especially when providing rehabilitation to individuals who participate in endurance based sports.
